Radio host alleges Biden’s aides gave questions before leaving the station.
A popular radio host of WURD Radio, Andrea Lawful-Sanders, who was in a news-making news interview with US President Joe Biden and alleged that questions presented to Biden were tendered to him beforehand, has resigned, US CNN has informed this morning.
This was said to make the interview look like the White House prepped the questions in a complete violation of the station’s policy, which makes it stand as an independent media organization that answers to the listeners only,” said Sara Lomax, the president, and CEO of the Philadelphia based station through a statement posted on the station’s website over the weekend.
Therefore, by consent, Ms. Lawful-Sanders and WURD Radio will no longer have any contractual affiliation from the date of this communication. WURD is the only talk radio station in Pennsylvania that is black-owned. Ms Lomax stressed that the station now focuses on giving independent and credible information to the main audience of black people in Philadelphia.
She claimed that to offer such pre-set questions is to subvert that trust and is a regime that WURD Radio does not indulge in or recommend as a principle let alone policy.
Lawful Sanders, who hosts the show “The Source,” had Biden on the show last week to ask him four questions on the election, his accomplishments, his performance in a debate, and to provide a message to the swing voters.
During the interview with CNN’s Victor Blackwell on Saturday, she stated that Biden’s work colleagues provided her with these questions out of eight questions suggested to her in advance. ”As she said, the questions were forwarded to her for vetting; she vetted them, ”Lawful-Sanders said this in a one-minute video that she posted on Facebook on Sunday,
“I want to inform all of you, effective immediately, I am not an on-air host at WURD anymore, I quit yesterday and it was accepted. ”She then said: ‘We would like to thank all of you who are part of this process and specially WURD Radio I am grateful…Life is pushing and things are moving and changing.
In one or two days you will hear more. ’The decision has only fuelled more debates about Biden’s mental faculties given his forgetfulness during the first presidential debate with CNN a few weeks ago. Most Democratic leaders have been dissatisfied with his debate including some of them who have advised him to stop seeking the party nomination.
Ms Blackwell said this in response to a question on whether the White House is now attempting to show the vim, vigor . . . of the president “I don’t know how they do that by sending questions first before the interview so that the president knows what’s coming,” she said.
Ms Blackwell also disclosed that both the callers to the station’s program Lawful-Sanders and the host of The Earl Ingram Show’ in Milwaukee who also was given an interview with the president in the week posed the same questions to Biden.
To my amazement, Joe Biden’s campaign spokesperson failed to dismiss the possibility of the campaign offering questions but said “We do not demand its acceptance in exchange for interviews. ”
Interviewees often provide topics they would like to avoid, these were timely issues – the president was asked about this debate performance and what he has brought to black Americans, said Lauren Hitt, the spokesperson.
